This is the new split Gulfer has done with Fago.Sepia and it's pretty fucking amazing. I don't really know much about these guys (other than that they're from Montreal), but apon my first listen, it sounds like something the reptilian would do if they were more noodly with their guitar work. The singing could be a little better on this, but it doesn't take away too much from the music on here - I love anything that's math rock. The synths kind of sound corny at times, but they're rarely used throughout their songs so it's not that big of a deal. Song structure is really enjoyable and overall this thing is a fun listen. I really recommend picking this up (or atleast giving it a listen). Check it out.

Arrows In Her reminds me of that new Deer Leap release that came out a while back. All of the music on this thing is extremely heartfelt and wrenching. They remind me a lot like a younger Appleseed Cast. All of their songs groove with that atmospheric emo/post-rock sound along with extremely catchy choruses that don't sound corny and overdone. I'm going to look into these guys more and upload the rest of their stuff later when I get some more free time. Get into it.

Fear of Men are this up and coming dream-pop/shoegaze band out of london that have struck a chord with me compared to others that have played that same old dreamy/indie shit that I'm sure everyone knows. If you follow Gorilla Vs Bear - you've probably heard of these guys. If not - you should still here about these guys. I'm not sure if everyone here likes the dreamy/shoegaze sound of modern indie, but great things are gonna come from this band when their full length comes out later this year. Get into it.

Another release that has been floating around for a while that I thought I'd upload too. Old Songs is essentially an EP of three "old songs" Foxing did a while back (whereabouts - have no idea). Foxing reminds me of Leaf Routine except with more screaming. However, the screaming could be better on this - I don't know if I make any sense, but sometimes I feel like it doesn't flow with their music. Nevertheless, it's still interesting and doesn't take away too much from this release. I can't express how good the post-rock parts are on this thing; they remind me of The Appleseed Cast sometimes. Although this thing is only three songs long, it's a good listen and needs to be heard.

Ghosts and Vodka are another post-Cap'n Jazz era band that play post-emowhateverthehell and includes guitar wizard and song writing legend Victor Villareal (Cap'n Jazz, Owls) and other guitarist Sam Zurik (Joan of Arc, Make Believe). If you only consider Mike Kinsella to be the only good thing that has started projects outside of Cap'n Jazz - you're wrong. All of the music on this thing is nothing short of amazing. This band broke up a long time ago, but I heard that they were gonna do a reunion show somewhere at some point in time (I don't know how long ago that was). Heard about this band from Sometimes I Get Drunk At Night and I'm glad I did. This band is incredible; the song structure on this thing is amazing. Legs Like Tree Trunks are amazing at casting noodly guitar melodies that are incredibly catchy and easy to sing too. This band is really technical without going overboard (This Town Needs Guns), which is great cuz I don't always need to have my face 'technically' melted by some shred-head to enjoy a song. The sound quality on this release is also something to take note of; it's nearly perfect for a DIY band. This band has another EP and full length from last year that I'll post later once I look into them more. Get into it.

Saw this floating around a few blogs and I thought I'd post it anyway because of how blown away I am of another amazing band that I'm late as hell in getting into. Our Sunday Affairs are a four-piece emo/indie band from Jersey Shore with big riffs and big hearts. I absolutely love this kind of music that molds the emo/indie sound seamlessly together where you can barely distinguish them apart; it gives it that campy, dreamy, feel-good vibe that makes you wanna sing and groove to every song. The song structure on this thing is also really interesting: I get the sense they took some cues from Rob Crowe and Mike Kinsella and created some noodly bastardization that's reliving the 90s emo heyday of Cap'n Jazz with a dreamy twist. I don't know if I'm making much sense. All I can say is their is a difference between---a DIY emo band like Coping---and an indie band like Pinback. Although this release is only four songs long, I highly recommend getting this (I know I say that about a lot of random shit I post, but I really mean it with this one) if you're a fan of truly heartfelt music.

Heard about this band from Sometimes I Get Drunk At Night and man am I impressed. Deer Leap are three guys from New Hampshire who play atmospheric post-rock and are amazing at it. What I like most about this band is their knack for creating dreamy luscious imagery with their reverb laden guitar work. Deer Lear also have a great sense in song structure; choruses rise with swelling buildups and climaxes that make almost every song epic. This release has also been one of the few new releases that I've actually sunken my teeth into and listened to for more than a week (I get bored of shit really fast). If Moving Mountains and The Appleseed Cast are instant comparisons to this release then you couldn't be more right. This is a must have for everyone right now.

The Appleseed Cast is probably my favorite band of all time - and that says a lot. They were one of the early bands back when I was 14 that got me into everything (that wasn't sold in a fucking Hot Topic). I'm sure everyone here knows who they are (because of how highly influential they were), so I feel I don't need to ramble - they're just amazing. Although many argue that the Low Level Owl albums were their best release ever, I still think Two Conversations was their peak. Every song on here is extremely catchy (without crossing over into corny) and the overall vibe on this release casts some dreamy melodramatic spell that brings to mind many emotions (lovelorn being the main one). It's like the entire album is a heartbreak story from start-to-finish, making the listener feel emotionally devastated at the end of it. If you ever went through a terrbible break up (or are going through one now)--this is for you.

Everyone Everywhere - Self Titled (2012)

Saw this band floating around some blogs and decided to check them out and my god am I amazed. Everyone Everywhere are four guys from Philly who love to play 90s sounding Emo with that campy whimsical Indie twist making it that the kind of Emo we hear today from bands like Empire! Empire! etc. However, what makes me so amazed at Everyone Everywhere are three things: 1) the production quality on this album is amazing for a DIY Emo band (I feel like I say that constantly now but damn it's really good), 2) Their melodies and choruses are phenomenal; constantly catchy without getting too whiny and overbearingly cheesy and borderline corny, and 3) their song structure brings me back to the days of bands like The Promise Ring and Mineral with that new Indie twist, which makes it an all around fun listen. They also do a really great job layering in some noodly guitar work giving it some math rock spice instead of just generic verse-chorus-verse like other Emo bands do. I haven't gotten into their older stuff yet, since I just heard about this band, but if it's anything like this, I'm definitely gonna post it later. This is a must have for anyone who loves the Emo revival music that's coming out today. Get into it.

I don't know if many of you ever got into these guys a while back (or for that matter, into the whole post rock thing), but this record is one to be heard. If you ever liked The Appleseed Cast's incredibly lush and melodic instrumental masterpieces on Low Level Owl Vol. 2, then think of a band that decided to revolve their whole career around it. This is probably Do Make Say Think's best record (next to & Yet & Yet) and it does post rock justice. Although most of their music is instrumental, Do Make Say Think have a knack for creating soothing imagery with their ambient guitar melodies, making every song amazing. They also go in different experimental directions throughout each song and blow it up in epic proportions (I cannot emphasize enough how this sounds like something from Low Level Owl Vol. 2). I really don't need to talk more about this one; if you're a fan of post rock - get this shit now.

I've had this for a while and I've been meaning to post it, but never got around to it. This is Chalk Talk's best release (they recently came out with a new full length called Bad Influences, but I'll post that later when I listen to it). Chalk Talk are definitely an acquired taste; they are one of those bands that you either--love them--or hate them. What I mean by that is all of their songs are extremely catchy and easy to sing-a-long too, however, their lyrics don't mean shit. Choruses include singing about "nutella" and "doing laundry," but the energy is so high in every song that I can never put this thing down - it's probably one of the funnest records I've heard in a long time. If you don't like these guys, you're probably borderlined retarded. PLEASE support these cats by buying all their shit when they roll through on their Bad Influences Tour (I don't know if they're still on tour for that, but fuck it), they really deserve it. Get into it.

Heard about this band a while ago but never really checked them out until now and man am I amazed. Leer are five dudes from Cali who play noodly screaming math rock and are amazing at it (I'm surprised how little this band is known about). They remind me a lot like Native but better: their screams aren't as shitty and their guitar work is a lot more melodic and better structured. Although they barely have anything out, people really need to check these guys out and support them; the music speaks for itself. Emo Side Project & Little Kingdoms - Split (2012)

This is Emo Side Project's and Little Kingdom's lastest material: a three song ep (and man do I have some mixed feelings about it). I will start off first by saying that I am incredibly impressed with Emo Side Project; the production quality on this split is really good for a DIY band and all of their songs groove with that signature emo sound without getting too campy or whiny and becoming a complete snore to listen to. To be completely honest, I've never really gotten into Emo Side Project. I've heard about them through a few of my friends and I've seen them on tour a few times with Empire! Empire! but I've never really gotten into them. However, I was wrong; this band delivers in a way that doesn't cross over into becoming too cheesy or immature like most noodly inde/emo bands can sometimes get into (Empire! Empire!). I'm definitely going to put up the rest of their stuff once I find it (even though I'm late as hell getting into this band).

Now - as for Little Kingdoms - I was honestly really disappointed in the ONE song that they put out on this split. Throughout the 5 min track, Little Kingdoms maintains this stagnant/boring tone that never really goes anywhere until the last minute where their noodly guitars kick in and give off some mastabatory riff that barely does the song any justice. I fell in love with their Home ep that they released a while back (Willow fucking sucked) and I really thought they finally harnished their signature sound and were going onto great things, but this track was just a complete snore. I really hope this band improves on their next release (hopefully a full length) because I really think they got lazy on this one.
