Arrows In Her reminds me of that new Deer Leap release that came out a while back. All of the music on this thing is extremely heartfelt and wrenching. They remind me a lot like a younger Appleseed Cast. All of their songs groove with that atmospheric emo/post-rock sound along with extremely catchy choruses that don't sound corny and overdone. I'm going to look into these guys more and upload the rest of their stuff later when I get some more free time. Get into it.

I cannot express how perfectly crafted their song structure is on every song; atmospheric guitars that cast luscious melodramatic melodies with heartfelt lyrics and rising percussion that always leads the songs into climaxing buildups. This album isn't as amazing as Here. Home. but it still delivers. Get into it.

Bedroom Eyes are a post-rock/shoegazy type band from New Hampshire (apparently they were named "best new band" by some obscure publication I think called The Phoenix?) that include members from Bravo Fucking Bravo, Pathos, L'antietam, and The River Bottom. As usual they tend to have that stapled Explosions in the Sky sound that makes the genre its own. However, what's sort-of different about this band is the amount distortion and reverb they use on their guitars; giving it an extra crunchy sound that makes their songs interesting. "Weak Beak" is probably my favorite song on this LP; it truly shows the band at their best. As far as the rest of the album goes, it's an easy listen without many other tracks standing out; sort of blending together into one big song. I still recommend downloading this thing if you're a fan of that shoegaze stuff (I really wonder if they named their band after that Dum Dum Girls' song).

Heard about this band from Sometimes I Get Drunk At Night and man am I impressed. Deer Leap are three guys from New Hampshire who play atmospheric post-rock and are amazing at it. What I like most about this band is their knack for creating dreamy luscious imagery with their reverb laden guitar work. Deer Lear also have a great sense in song structure; choruses rise with swelling buildups and climaxes that make almost every song epic. This release has also been one of the few new releases that I've actually sunken my teeth into and listened to for more than a week (I get bored of shit really fast). If Moving Mountains and The Appleseed Cast are instant comparisons to this release then you couldn't be more right. This is a must have for everyone right now.

I don't know if many of you ever got into these guys a while back (or for that matter, into the whole post rock thing), but this record is one to be heard. If you ever liked The Appleseed Cast's incredibly lush and melodic instrumental masterpieces on Low Level Owl Vol. 2, then think of a band that decided to revolve their whole career around it. This is probably Do Make Say Think's best record (next to & Yet & Yet) and it does post rock justice. Although most of their music is instrumental, Do Make Say Think have a knack for creating soothing imagery with their ambient guitar melodies, making every song amazing. They also go in different experimental directions throughout each song and blow it up in epic proportions (I cannot emphasize enough how this sounds like something from Low Level Owl Vol. 2). I really don't need to talk more about this one; if you're a fan of post rock - get this shit now.

It's been a while since I've made a post on this thing and it has been because of many reasons (work being the main one), but to summerize everything: this blog is not dead.

The Fall of Boss Koala were an indcredible long standing post-rock/screamo band from Scotland who disbanded after being together for 4 years. What makes this band standout the most to me is how amazing their ambient/instrumental interludes are throughout their songs; it's as if they're a screamier version of Explosions in the Sky - which is never a bad thing. Their older stuff (Thank God for Left Hand Drive) has a lot more emo-esque singing involved than on Reference Points and the production quality isn't as great. If nothing interests you about this band, listen to: "I Love My Dead Gay Son Pt. 1 & 2," from Reference Points - you will be amazed. Below are both of their releases: Reference Points and Thank God for Left Hand Drive. Get into it.
